Each month Y-W Electric Association reminds its members that the electric co-op headquartered in Akron has a renewable energy program available for its members.
The sign-up information is run regularly in the electric co-op’s monthly newsletter, outlining the program made possible for the distribution co-op by its power supplier, Tri-State Generation and Transmission.
Members may sign up for a set amount of renewable resource power in 100-kilowatt-hour per month increments. There will be a small premium of 40 cents per 100-kWh block in addition to the current rate. Tri-State G&T has purchased output electricity from wind farms, hydropower projects and solar power to provide this service.
Members are asked to fill out and sign a form to participate in the Green Power program. All other members of the Colorado Rural Electric Association offer a similar program to their members.
