Co-op Offers “Green” for Going Green

There are electric co-op members who want to add solar panels to their homes or, maybe, put up a wind turbine in their back yard. However, in the past, they have lacked access to financing for such a project.

Morgan County Rural Electric Cooperative, headquartered in Fort Morgan, has worked with Fort Morgan State Bank to offer a solution. The co-op and the bank created a “Green for Going Green” loan program for MCREA members interested in renewable energy projects and energy efficiency projects.

“It could include everything from wind generators and solar panels to energy efficient heating products and even new windows or insulation for your home,” Fort Morgan State Bank President John Sneed explained.

Anyone interested in the loan program must submit a loan application, available at the co-op, and have an energy audit and/or economic estimate done by MCREA. Loans are for five- or 10-year periods and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

For information, contact MCREA at 970-867-5688 or visit the website.
