Many politicians have not yet recognized the critical link between climate change, energy prices and the reliability of our electric system. Your local electric cooperative is trying to change that, and we are asking for your help.
We are asking you to contact Sen. Mark Udall (D), Sen. Michael Bennet (D) and your representative and ask them the hard questions. We are asking you to let our representatives in Washington, D.C., know that an array of experts are saying that our nation’s growing electricity needs will soon go beyond what renewables, conservation and efficiency can provide. Ask them if they have a plan to make sure that we have the electricity our country needs as we move into the future.
Visit our website www.ourenergy.coop. Log on and listen to the video from Glenn English, CEO of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, as he explains the crisis we are facing. Then click on the blue arrow at the bottom and follow the easy instructions to send an email to Congress.
Revisit the site in coming months. There will be more questions to ask our elected representatives as we continue this dialogue about our future.
