K.C. Electric, an electric co-op on Colorado’s eastern plains, features two energy efficiency tips in its February newsletter: one on washing clothes in cold water and one on setting back household thermostats to cut heating costs.
Each month, K.C. Electric, along with 14 other co-ops around the state, uses its pages in Colorado Country Life magazine to communicate with its members. The newsletter is filled with energy-related information such as election notices and nomination deadlines, board reports, safety tips and energy tips. Mailed to every member of the co-op, the magazine with its co-op news pages keeps the information flowing from the co-op to its member-owners.
In January’s newsletter the co-op shared information on how to select an energy-efficient water heater and how to use a monitor to measure actual energy use in a household. Last December, the newsletter offered a full page of information on space heaters and how to select the most efficient type for a specific need.
